Home

Hello reader! If you’re reading this right now, that means you either clicked on a link and was brought here or you’re having trouble navigating my blog from the new upgrade. Well, have no fear because I’ll tell you exactly what you need to know!

If you don’t want to read it all, I understand (it’s pretty long). All of the explanations are in the order that they appear on your screen so just scroll through until you find what you’re looking for. 🙂

Firstly, I want to go over each of the pages at the top. This is what I’m talking about:

menu

For those of you who don’t have a blog of your own, you would just call this the menu bar, but we call them pages.

So, the home page is obviously what you’re reading right now. When someone types in my plain url (jasminecarlisleblog.wordpress.com) it will lead you to this page. It will help you navigate my blog and give you details in case you’re looking for something specific.

The next button says ‘About Me‘. This one literally tells you about me. It gives you a list of things I like, things I do, and a few other things. Really, it just tells about me.

The third button says ‘Ecrits du Coeur‘. This is also the name of my entire blog. This page, however, will bring you to the blog post that I made the day I decided to change my blog name. It explains what it means, how to say it, and the journey to creating my blog.

The fourth button says ‘Blog‘ and this one has every single blog post I’ve ever made. If you click on it, the first post that you see will be my latest one. Scrolling further will take you to my very first post (it’s the very last one- you’ll have to do much scrolling to get to it). Then, you can click on one and it will take you directly to the website that the post is on. Once there, you can comment, like, and share my post!

Moving on! The next button is ‘Let’s Get in Touch!‘. If you click on this, you will be taken to a page where it gives you my links. If I’m a part of it, you can find my usernames on there.

The next button is a new one. So new, in fact, that it’s not even pictured above! Nevertheless, you will see it in the actual menu, so if you want to know how to work it, then today is your lucky day! It says ‘Previously on #1lineWed…‘ If you click on this, it will take you to a page that has every single post about #1lineWed that I’ve written. You can use this for inspiration for your own writing, or if you just want to go back and look at the old themes! On the left side is a list of the themes. Opposite the theme is the link to the post where the theme is featured. If you don’t really care about the theme, just ignore it and go through the links, but the theme feature is there if you need it. I update this every time I post a new #1lineWed favorites post, so if you missed it, be sure to check that out first!

The last button is titled ‘What I’m Working on‘. This one is also pretty self-explanatory. It tells you what books I’m working on and the summary to each one as well as what my goals for them are. I update it pretty often so you guys always know what I’m doing.

Now, if you scroll ALL THE WAY to the bottom, you’ll see this:

blog-buttons-bottom

You can pretty much see exactly what it’s talking about, but I’ll explain anyway in case you were confused. The first thing on the left side is ‘Where Else You Can Find Me’. Underneath are a bunch of buttons with my social media links. If you click on it, it’ll take you to my social media. It’s pretty much an easy version of the ‘Let’s Get in Touch’ page.

The one right below it says ‘Archives’. If you click on the drop down menu, you’ll see a list of months. Clicking on a certain month, will bring yo to a page with every post I made during that month.

The one below that says ‘Categories’. When I write posts, I can add categories to make it easier if you wanted to just find the posts that are similar, but I found this kind of difficult and I often forget. It won’t have every post that fits in that category, but there are quite a few.

The one under that says ‘Meta’. Under that are links to different things. You can pretty much figure out what each of them means by reading it so I won’t explain it to you. (Also because they mostly confuse me as well.)

Underneath that one says “My Peronsal Instagram”. You can’t see it in the picture because I could only screenshot so much of the screen. If you scroll the page down, though, you’ll be able to see that there are smaller thumbnails of my Instagram pictures. If you click on it, it’ll take you to my personal Instagram page.

Now to the second column! The top right is a search bar! You can search for a specific title (if you know it) or just a word. Also, if there’s a post that even mentions the word you typed, it’ll show up.

Under that says ‘Check out some of my recent posts’ which literally means what it says. Under it are links to the last few posts I’ve put up. Obviously, depending on when you’re reading this, you’ll see different posts than in the picture, but it’s all the same. If you click on it, it will take you directly to the post where you can comment, share, like, etc.

Next up is a follow button! If you click it, you’ll automatically be following my blog and you’ll get a notification in your ‘Reader’ button (found in the top left of your page) whenever I post! If you follow me and you start getting unwanted emails telling when you post, you can easily change that setting. 🙂

Under THAT is links to all the pages that you can find at the top in the menu. It’s just there so that if you don’t see the pages at the top, there’s a chance you’ll see it at the bottom.

Underneath the pages, there’s a picture of me and a brief ‘About Me’ so that you can visit it without having to go through the page at the top and sorting through the full post. 😉

Lastly is my Bookstagram. It’s the exact same thing as my personal Instagram one, but it shows book pictures and it will take you to a different Instagram profile (but they both belong to me. 😉 )

And there we go! I hope this post was helpful to you all and maybe you’ll stay a while. If you have any concerns about the layout/colors/fonts, don’t hesitate to comment down below or go to my ‘Let’s Get in Touch’ page to find a form that will send me an email.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day! I post reviews on Mondays, tags on Tuesdays, my favorite #1lineWed tweets on Wednesdays, sometimes short stories or excerpts on Thursdays, Friday Prompts on Fridays, and Random Ramblings on Sundays. I’ll see you all later, but until then, keep writing, loves.
